Epsilon Epsilon Chapter // The University of Arizona
Russell Murphy received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Arizona in June 1974 and went on to obtain his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Iowa in June 1968. During his time at U of A, he was President of Epsilon Epsilon from January of 1971-January of 1972. His past employers include being at partner at HARBOUR & MURPHY CPAS, HAWLEY* MURPHY CPAS, a supervisor at TOUCHE ROSS & CO (now Deloitte & Touche), and a staff accountant at Ernst & Ernst (now Ernst & Whiney). He is now the president/owner of RUSSELL R. MURPHY, LTD CPA/CFP.
Russell had been an independent CPA for his entire working career primarily specializing in tax planning and compliance. He also holds a CFP certificate and helps manage the
financial assets of many of my long time clients. In his community he has been a Member Catalina Rotary Club, Tucson, AZ since 1976, lifetime member of UofA Wildcat Club, a part of the Board of Directors at Ridge Estates HOA, and Board of Directors at La Paloma Property Owners Association. He was also president of the Epsilon Epsilon House Corporation for many years.
Russell says, “I was unable to join a fraternity as an undergraduate at the UofIowa because of the tennis coaches’ rules. I welcomed the change when I came to Tucson for law school to participate in the Greek activities and it was one of the best decisions of my life. I made many friends as a result, some of which I am still in close contact with, and I learned invaluable lessons about how to run a business and manage and get along with people.
When the current Delts look back many years from now I think they will find their years at the Delt house as some of the best years of their lives.” He is married to his wife Linda, and resides in Tucson, Arizona.
